Situated on a beautiful stretch of Lake Huron coastline, just outside of Goderich, two and a half hours west of Toronto, is Point Farms Provincial Park.
For the second year in a row, we visited Point Farm in early June 2023. Read on for my late spring review of Point Farm, the town of Goderich, and everything the area offers.
Point Farm Provincial Park Review
Point Farm has become a regular early-season staple in our family camping adventures. The park offers a beautiful beach, fantastic sunsets, a relatively long and mild hiking trail, and a couple of playgrounds for the kids.
As much as we love the park, I almost love the beautiful town of Goderich more. Highlights include great food options, the Huron Historic Gaol and Huron County Museum, and the beautiful Courthouse Square.
Point Farm Provincial Park Highlights:
đ – With a western view over the clear blue waters of Lake Huron, the Sunsets are second to none.
đī¸ – Clear blue waters and expansive views make for a fantastic day at the beach.
đĻ – The Huron Historic Gaol and Huron County Museum are must-see attractions.
đē – A great local brewery and restaurant at Cow Bell Brewery.
đ – Lots of food options not too far away.
đĻ – Besides the odd raccoon, wildlife has not been much of a concern here.
đ – Ringing the bell on the full-size steam locomotive in the Huron County Museum.
âŊ – Nightly games of Gaga Ball after enjoying dessert at the Sky Ranch Drive-in.

Beaches
The beaches I’ve visited at both the Pinery and Point Farms Provincial Parks offer beautiful caribbean-esque views over the crystal clear, light blue waters of Lake Huron.
The beach is both sandy and quite rocky, depending on the time of year. We’ve been a couple of times where the water is much higher, and the surf is treacherous to walk in, and this past June, when the water levels were down, when the sand and surf were fantastic to play in.

Park Ameneties
Point Farm offers a variety of amenities to make for a fantastic stay, including:
đģ – Modern, impeccably clean comfort stations.
đ – Playgrounds in both campgrounds for the kids. Although, I’m told the park in Colborne is the better of the two.
đĨž – A few relatively easy hiking options, including the 4km Old Farms Trail. Although the trails through the fields and forests of southern Ontario don’t compare to what’s found up north, they are a great way to stretch your legs.
đ – Epic views of Lake Huron from the up-high vantage points in both campgrounds.

Goderich Has Lots to Offer
We love Point Farms, but what truly makes this a fantastic trip is when you have time to explore all that the Town of Goderich has to offer.
đĩđģ – If you’re looking for a bikepacking adventure, a continuous 132 km rail trail connects Guelph to Goderich.
đ – Great eating options include Cowbell Brewery for great bar food and beer; The Station and Sky Ranch Drive-in for fantastic burgers, poutine, and soft-serve; and Beach Street Station for views of Lake Huron and the Goderich Main Beach.
đĻ – Shaw’s Ice Cream, available all throughout town, rivals Kawartha Dairy in every way.
âŊ – A great playground at the main beach. There is also a fantastic play area at the Sky Ranch Drive-in featuring gaga ball, tether ball, all sorts of play structures, and opening June 2024 a mini putt course.
đĻ – Make time to visit the Huron Historic Gaol and Huron County Museum. You won’t be disappointed.
đī¸ – Goderich’s main beach will rival anything available in Ontario.
đĸ – Watching the boats from Goderich’s main beach.
âšī¸- Lots of events happen all year long at Courthouse Square Park.

Final Thoughts on Point Farms
2024 was our third time here, and we look forward to coming back for more early-season adventures.
